Boris Zlokovic returns to Jadran Herceg Novi

Boris Zlokovic returns to home country Montenegro to play for Jadran Herceg Novi next season. The star centre-forward today was presented to the media by Jadran after the club had announced Zlokovic' return on Monday already. The 31-year old leaves Serbian runner-up Radnicki Kragujevac where he had spent the past two seasons. Zlokovic, second highest-scorer at last season's Champions League Final Six tournament in Barcelona where Radnicki took 2nd place, was expected to leave his team this summer as he became one of the major 'free agents' on the European transfer market. Ultimately Zlokovic decided to return to the club where he started his professional career and previously returned to during the 2009-2010 season.

In between Zlokovic served as centre-forward for Posillipo for 4 years and after his second stint in Herceg Novi again played in the Italian Serie A1, this time for Pro Recco. The transfer of Zlokovic boosts the young team coached by former national team-mate of Zlokovic, Vladimir Gojkovic, who enjoyed a rather successful last season in which they claimed a second straight Montenegrin cup, played the Adriatic league Final Four and won a 4th national championship since 2009 beating defending champions Budva 3-0 in the best-of-5 series. The centre-forward became champion of Montenegro with Jadran three times ('03, '04, '10), in Italy twice ('11, '12) and also won the Euro League on two occasions (Posillipo '05 and Pro Recco '12). Jadran Herceg Novi is expected to be one of the three teams from Montenegro who will partcipate in next season's new Regional league where the top 8 sides from Croatia, top 4 from Serbia, 3 from Montenegro and 1 Slovenia representative will compete starting early October.

As an international for Serbia & Montenegro and later Montenegro Zlokovic was part of the teams that became European champion in 2003, world champion in 2005, the first ever major gold medal as an indepedent nation at the 2008 European championships and won the World League at home in Podgorica in 2009. After the fourth place finish at the 2012 Olympic Games in London however, Zlokovic announced not to be available as international anymore to recover.

However at Wednesday's press conference Zlokovic reveiled to be ready for a return to the Montenegrin national team. ''It is an honour to play for the national team, I still think about a remarkable career. Then I needed a break to recover and heal. Now I'm ready, I feel good, and will accept if there's an invitation'', said Zloković to news portal Vijesti.me.
